Education for the Community

One of the most frequent concerns we receive is that there are very few educational outreach programs available to our community. The options that are available may not be in the price range for a majority of the community members that need them. To address these concerns, NKRGV, Inc. is offering five unique educational options for our community. Our educational programs are completely free to the community.

Guest Speaking Services

We offer guest speaking services for your school, work, or other community organization. We have a variety of prepared topics and can tailor our presentation to meet your needs. Our topics include: Pet Care, Pet Training, and Service Animals. Guest speaking services are free of charge; however, we will gratefully accept donations. Please call us to schedule our speakers. We are also available to participate in health fairs, education fairs, or other community outreach programs. Please call, text, or email us today to schedule.

Foster Assistance

Fostering a homeless pet in your home has become an easy way for students to earn their community service hours and for individuals to give back to their community. We have prepared training materials and a manual that we can offer to you at no cost. The foster guide covers the developmental needs of dogs and cats. It covers preparing an animal for local adoptions or for transport out of South Texas. We have experienced veterinary technicians, behavior specialists, and animal handlers that are also available to answer your questions and concerns within our scope of practice. This free service is only offered to our fosters or the fosters of our current partners. If you would like to participate in this program and you are not already a partner with NKRGV, Inc., please reach out to us for more information.

Grant Writing & Compliance

The world of grant writing and grant compliance can often be tough to navigate. With so much money available from major charitable organizations such as PetSmart Charities, Petco Love, and Bissell Foundation, grants can be very appealing. The down side of grants are the rules and regulations that are sometimes called grant compliance. We know that grants are often competitive, but our organization believes that collaboration is the key to success. The success of another rescue only benefits the animals and our community. Our experienced grant writer attended the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) grant writing course and is willing to assist you free of charge. Since 2018, our grant writer has aided in grant writing and compliance for nearly 4 million dollars that was granted to local animal rescues and animal shelters. Please call us to schedule an appointment. You must be a government entity or registered 501c3 to qualify for grants.

Emotional Support Animals (ESA) and Service Animals

To meet the growing need for Emotional Support Animals (ESA) and Service Animals, we have extended our services to include free training and consulting for those seeking the assistance of a working animal. Our experienced team of specialists can guide you through the process of finding the right animal match, preparing you to be a handler, completing the training of your animal, and covering your personal liability. Not every animal has the aptitude or desire to be a working animal. Not every person with a disability would benefit from owning an ESA or service animal. That being said, we are committed to helping as many animals and their handlers as possible to live to their fullest potential as a team. Please call us for more information and to see if you may qualify for this program.
