Adoption Program

Satellite Adoption Centers

We have our available kitties up for adoption in the Everyday Cat Adoption Center at PetSmart. You are welcome to visit the kitties during regular business hours (Monday - Saturday 9am-9pm & Sundays 10am-7pm). If you’d like to adopt one of our fine feline friends, please call or text us to set up your adoption appointment. Our PetSmart partner location is: 420 E. Expressway 83, McAllen, Texas 78503. Our PetSmart location does not have an interaction room, but the adoption center door is open, so you can walk right in.

On-Line Browsing Options

All of our available dogs, and any other species we have available for adoption are listed on our partner websites: petfinder.com & adoptapet.com. Please feel free to browse the photos and bios for No Kill RGV Coalition. We update our available pets regularly. If you’d like to set up a meet and greet, you may call or text us. Temporarily unavailable due to the rapid pace at which we complete good adoption matches, our volunteers cannot keep up with the data entry necessary to maintain on-line browsing at this time.

Adoption Events

Our animals are always invited to a variety of adoption events throughout the community. You may follow us on our Facebook page: No-Kill RGV Coalition for any events that we may have upcoming. We’d love to see you at our events and would greatly appreciate your support.

Private Meet and Greets

We also conduct private meet and greets. The pet, their paperwork, vet records, and personal belongings are brought to your home. A meet and greet is conducted between our adoptable pet and your resident pet(s) to ensure the adoption is a good match. If all of the decision makers in the home are in agreement with the adoption, we complete the contract, and your new pet can move right in.

Adoption Requirements

All adoption appointments typically take about 45 minutes to complete the meet and greet, go over vet records, sign the contract, and ensure the pet and adopter will have everything they need for a smooth transition from our home to yours. Many of our pets come with brand new personal belongings that were donated to them by their foster families or other community sponsors. You are required to be at least 18 years of age and must have valid photo ID in order to adopt. We expect that all decision makers in the home are in agreement with the adoption. If you rent your home, you must have your landlord’s permission. Some cities do have pet limits and some communities have breed/ size restrictions. It is important to know the pet ownership rules for where you live. Our pets are all indoor only pets. Dogs may go outside to potty and play but must live inside your home with you. We offer free pet retention services for all adopted pets.

Emergency Medical Assistance

The cost of emergency veterinary care in our community is more than the average person can afford. In addition, there are very few veterinary clinics available to RGV residents. With that in mind, we are pleased to announce that our Emergency Medical Assistance Program is included, free of charge with every adoption. This program has been added to our list of services to help keep families together.

We can offer free medical evaluation within our scope of practice. Anything beyond our scope of practice would be referred to the best and most affordable options available..
